Resumé du document : Une des grandes révélations de l’avènement des technologies de l’information et de la communication (TIC) en Afrique a été la naissance d’un secteur non structuré ou secteur informel des TIC. Ce secteur semble se développer avec ses logiques et ses règles propres et souvent différentes de l’économie informelle telle que nous la connaissons. Cet article analyse la performance de ce secteur en se focalisant sur les aspects économiques et sociaux. Il utilise pour ce faire des données collectées auprès des entreprises informelles de TIC et utilisant un modèle de régression Logit. Les résultats indiquent que les caractéristiques sociodémographiques du promoteur n’ont pas d’influence sur la performance du secteur informel des TIC. Par contre, l’utilisation des outils de communication comme le téléphone mobile et le téléphone fixe affectent positivement la performance des acteurs du secteur informel.
