Resumé du document : Les Nations Unies viennent d’organiser en deux phases, à Genève du 10 au 12 décembre 2003 et à Tunis du 16 au 18 novembre 2005, un Sommet Mondiale sur la Société de l’Information. La principale ambition de ce Sommet est de favoriser la participation de toutes les parties prenantes à l’édification d’une société de l’information véritablement mondiale et inclusive, propice à un développement économique et social de toutes les nations. Ce Sommet a permis de prendre des engagements et de formuler des recommandations à l’endroit des gouvernements, des organisations internationales et sous régionales, du secteur privé et de la société civile. Conscient de l’importance du potentiel des TIC, le Burkina Faso qui figure parmi les pays les plus pauvres du monde a initié pour sa part, depuis le début des années 90, un processus qui vise à impulser son développement économique et social grâce à une mobilisation du potentiel de ces technologiques.
