Resumé du document : Cette étude analyse l’impact de l’adoption de l’Internet sur la performance des entreprises béninoises. Pour ce faire, nous utilisons la méthodologie à deux étapes de Heckman qui consiste en une partition endogène de l’échantillon en deux groupes (celles utilisant Internet et les autres) et à comparer l’influence d’un certain nombre de paramètres sur les variables de performance de l’entreprise, en l’occurrence le chiffre d’affaires. Techniquement, la méthode de Heckman consiste à estimer dans un premier temps la probabilité d’adoption de l’Internet à travers un modèle probit et à récupérer les résidus pour le calcul de l’inverse du ratio de Mills. Dans un second temps, un modèle d’offre des entreprises sera estimé pour chaque groupe de l’échantillon (celles qui dispose d’internet et les autres) avec comme régresseurs l’inverse du ratio de Mill. Les résultats montrent qu’il n’existe pas de différences significatives entre les entreprises des deux groupes. Internet n’a pas permis d’améliorer les performances des entreprises qui l’ont adopté. A certains points de vue, l’adoption d’Internet semble même diminuer l’efficacité des entreprises en prolongeant par exemple les délais de livraison.
